Hundreds of meditators from around the world have already registered for the second world retreat in Acem’s 50-year long history. They will travel to the heart of the Spanish Pyrenees for a week of intensive meditation, personal reflection, playful interaction, and scenic walks in spectacular surroundings. You may still join them. But note the deadline for the early-bird discount: 15 May 2016.
On three afternoons during the World Retreat, you can choose between five different exciting and entertaining workshops. The workshops come in three different versions: talks, games and body practices. While most of the talks focus on scientific, cultural or psychological aspects of meditation, two of them are concerned with the history and art of the country we are in: Spain. The games encourage a playful attitude towards the exploration of the self, while the body practices use breath and movements as channels of self-expression.
The World Retreat programme centres on the long meditations. They are preceded by morning yoga and followed by guidance groups as well as evening seminars with Acem's founder Dr Are Holen. Every day there is time for walking and talking in the forests, grasslands and mountains nearby. In addition, you can choose from several parallel workshops in the afternoon, and informal social activities in the evenings make it easy to get new friends and contacts from different parts of the world.
If you don’t yet know Acem Meditation, you can learn the technique at the World Retreat. And if you already know the method, you can bring along friends or family who want to learn. Beginner’s courses are available in English, German, Spanish, and Mandarin.
My family - my wife, my daughter and me - will go together to the World Retreat 2016. We want to share this Acem highlight in Spain. We have been together at a retreat before, and it was a positive experience.
After ten years of yoga practice in Taiwan, Erin Tseng still felt stuck. For some reason, she could not breathe as deeply as some of the postures required. She was struggling. It was only when she learned how to “let go” in practice that she was able to relax and come closer to her own spontaneity. Now she is training to become an Acem instructor in meditative yoga.
Are you going to the World Retreat in the Spanish Pyrenees this summer? Would you like someone else to join you? A partner, a friend, a son or daughter, a mother or father, a sister or brother, or someone else who might be interested?
In the summer of 2015, Acem Spain arranged its first retreat at Boí Taüll Resort in the Pyrenees, as a preparation for the World Retreat 2016. Some of the participants have shared their experiences below.
